About The Project
Invenergy began development of the Sinnissippi Solar Energy Center in 2018 and since then we have been working to appropriately size the project with the grid operator, secure agreements with landowners, perform required studies to support solar development, and meet with local stakeholders. Currently, our efforts are largely focused on securing a permit for the project and conducting all necessary studies to ensure we site our project facilities in the most appropriate and responsible locations.
During the life of the project, the Sinnissippi Solar Energy Center is projected to generate millions of dollars in tax revenues, land payments, salaries to employees, and payments for local goods and services, which will contribute to economic activity in the Jefferson County area.
As the demand for energy increases across the state, renewable energy projects help provide much needed energy stability to our grid. Wisconsin is poised to quickly catch up to the rest of our nation’s widespread adoption of renewable energy generation. The positive benefits that will be brought to the state through the development of these projects include tax revenue, construction jobs and wages, full-time operational jobs, and much more.
American Clean Power Wisconsin Fact Sheet
To avoid and minimize impacts to wildlife and other natural resources, we work with state and federal agencies and other interested stakeholders to site, build, and operate our facilities responsibly.
All roads and infrastructure will be left in the same or better condition than they were prior to their use for the construction of the Sinnissippi Solar Energy Center.
The Sinnissippi Solar Energy Center is a great opportunity for Jefferson County, with millions to be invested in the local economy over the life of the project. We selected Jefferson County for this project after intense and careful evaluation due to the:
-Existing transmission lines limiting the need for new infrastructure
-Private agricultural land and interest from landowners
-Proximity to state highways
We take our commitment to our local host communities seriously and look forward to continuing to work closely with Jefferson County to contribute to the area's economic development, and to provide an additional supply of clean, homegrown energy in Wisconsin.
